Previously we have shared the best Twitter client for Android which is called TweetCaster. This App by Handmark is loaded with features for Twitter while mobile! It has virtually every Twitter feature: Timeline, @Replies, Direct Messages, Favorites, Lists, Follow/Unfollow, Tweet/Retweet, Trends, Search (even save your searches or geo searches to see Tweeps near you), Photo uploading, URL shortening, Profiles, Android notifications, and supports multiple Twitter accounts. A few other features you’ll find while poking around the app such as Filtering the timeline or Tweets. There are a lot of app available for Android to make users’ Twitter experience soother. We have also shared two of them previously. One is the Official Twitter App For Android and the other is TweetDeck. Obviously both of them are great and worth of giving a try, but during our test, we found another great app call TweetCaster for Twitter. In our words, this one beats the previously shared twos. It is One of the Best Twitter Android Apps and has a lot of features. It’s Fast! and Very well organized too. When it comes to mobile Twitter clients, there are two basic forms: Bare-bones apps, and apps that bring the UI candy, sometimes sacrificing functionality. TweetCaster finds a good middle ground, especially when it comes to its user interface. Obviously lengthy tweets take up more room. I'm averaging about four tweets a screen. From the main time line you also can read @ replies, DMs, favorited tweets and lists (though lists weren't working for me in the beta). Scrolling is smooth on the Droid. Here, in this post, we are solving all frequently asked questions and confusions about TweetCaster. So set on your back and be straight forward, we are bringing the very best twitter client in front of you.

  1. My TweetCaster is not running properly

If you are experiencing slow performance or responsiveness, you may wish to perform a full "reboot" of the app to get back to normal.

    1. Close the app
    2. Tap your device menu button and select settings
    3. Select Applications
    4. Select Running Services
    5. Locate TweetCaster and tap it. Select "Stop" on the dialog box to fully exit the TweetCaster application
    6. Open TweetCaster again, it should start up "fresh" and run at a more optimized level

If a full reboot does not solve your issues, you may need to delete TweetCaster from your device and reinstall it. If you are using TweetCaster Pro, you will NOT have to pay again for the app. Just go back to the Android Market and click Install to re-download.

  2. How do I change settings in TweetCaster for Android? What kind of options are there?

    Q. How do I change theme?
    A. TweetCaster for Android currently offers two themes, Light Theme (light gray tweet balloons on a medium gray background) and Dark Theme (graphite tweet balloons on a black background).

Select Menu --> More --> Settings to access the Themes menu. You will need to exit TweetCaster in order to apply a theme change, but you can select the "Restart Later" option if you wish to continue using TweetCaster and have the theme change apply the next time you launch the application.

    Q. How do I change the Auto-Refresh interval?
    A. Select Menu --> More --> Settings to access the Auto-refresh Interval menu item. You can choose to have TweetCaster refresh at 3, 5, 10, 15, or 30 minute intervals.

    Q. How do I change the Font Size?
    A. Select Menu --> More --> Settings to access the Font Size menu item. You can choose between Normal, Large, and Larger options.

You can also turn on notifications by Vibration, Sound, and Flashing LED from the Background Notifications setting.
  3. Where can I get assistance with my TweetCaster for Android application?

If you have a question about the functionality of your TweetCaster for Android application, please email at TweetCaster@handmark.com

  4. Is TweetCaster draining my battery?

In TweetCaster for Android you can save battery life by turning off Background Notifications in settings. Select "More" from the menu and then select "Settings." Scroll down and tap "Notifications" and then uncheck the box for Background Notifications. With background notifications turned off, you will no longer be notified of new tweets after exiting TweetCaster.

  5. When I exit TweetCaster for Android, it closes, but I still receive Tweets in the background

Here are some tips for extending your battery life when using TweetCaster:

    a. Turn off Background Notifications. Tap the menu and select "Settings." Scroll down and tap "Notifications" and then uncheck the box for Background Notifications. With background notifications turned off, you will no longer be notified of new tweets after exiting TweetCaster.

    b. Turn off Auto-refresh. Tap the menu and select "Settings." Scroll down and uncheck the box for Auto-refresh. With auto refresh enabled, you will need to manually refresh TweetCaster, but it will save battery life.

NOTE: When Auto-Refresh is disabled, the Notifications item in settings will be grayed out since disabling Auto-refresh automatically disables background notifications.

    c. Remove the widget – If you've installed the TweetCaster widget, it will use more battery than having just the app installed.

  6. No number indicating new tweets?

Earlier versions of TweetCaster gave me notifications that included the number of new tweets, @replies, direct messages, etc. Why do I only get a dot now, instead of a number?

This was an attempt to simplify. If you really want it, email at TweetCaster@handmark.com

  7. Do I need to uninstall the Free TweetCaster for Android before I purchase and install the Pro version from Android Market that has no ads?

Yes, we recommend that you uninstall the free version of TweetCaster for Android before you download and install the paid version.

  8. Does TweetCaster identify my GPS location on Tweets?

By default, TweetCaster only uses your GPS signal for the Nearby function, which finds Twitter uses near you. We do not automatically capture or display any GPS information internally at Handmark or externally to the Twitter community.

If you do wish to display your location in your tweet, tap the location icon on the New Tweet screen to enable geotagging. When location is enabled in this way, TweetCaster will include your current location with your tweet.

Please note that in order to enable location in TweetCaster, the "Add a location to your tweets" setting must be enabled in your Twitter account settings.

  9. How do I post Facebook updates using TweetCaster?

Tap the pencil icon to compose a tweet and then select the Facebook icon.

Enter your status update and then tap "send" to post the update to your Facebook page.

If you have not previously signed in to Facebook via TweetCaster, you will be asked to connect TweetCaster with your Facebook account. Enter your username and password and click "Connect."

Note: It may take a moment for TweetCaster to access Facebook connect - during this time you may see a white screen for a few seconds.

  10. Why am I unable to view lists?

Go to the lists tab, then click on the Menu and then Filter and then select "My Lists" or "Lists Following Me." The appropriate lists will be displayed.

  11. Why am I unable to delete tweets?

I am unable to delete my own tweets using TweetCaster. What's wrong?

Certain accounts, for an unknown reason, are unable to delete tweets via TweetCaster. Please use http://twitter.com/ to delete any unwanted tweets that you are unable to delete on your device.

  12. Search for Twitter users?

How do I search for Twitter users that I am not already following in TweetCaster for Android???

Tap the arrow in the upper left hand corner of the screen to return to the main Account Selection screen. Tap the "Searches" icon and then tap "New Search."

  13. Install blocked?

I tapped the .apk to install the application, but I'm getting a message that the install is blocked?

Once you tap the.apk file (and select Package Installer if you're asked what to complete the action using) you may receive a message saying: Install blocked

For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in Android Market

This is due to the fact that the package has been downloaded from a URL rather than the Market. The .apk file is digitally signed by Handmark and is safe for use on your device.

To override the block, tap Settings on the Install blocked window and check the checkbox on the Application settings screen for Unknown sources.

You will receive another Attention message noting that you take responsibility for any damage or data loss that may be caused by installing applications outside the Market. Tap OK.

Once you've completed the installation, you can uncheck the checkbox for Unknown Sources in Application settings to block future applications outside the Market.

Note about AT&T Android Phones: AT&T has chosen not to allow installation of non-market applications on their Android phones. Please use the Android Market to download applications for these devices.

  14. Why am I unable to download tweets ("Unrecognized or no response from server" error message)?

Users who don't tweet often may experience this issue, even if Auto-Refresh is enabled. A fix will be addressed in a future release.

To resolve, send a New Tweet from TweetCaster (which can be deleted later, if necessary) and your timeline should download immediately after the tweet is submitted (if not, click the Load More button).

If you are still receiving the error or no new tweets are displayed, remove the device battery for 30 seconds and re-launch the application.

If none of the above remedies fix your issue, please try deleting and reinstalling TweetCaster.

  15. Twitter down?

Twitter appears to be down. Can you help?

Handmark does not support the Twitter system, only our TweetCaster client. Log on to http://status.twitter.com/ or follow @Twitter for up-to-date system status.

  16. Why are my Twitter Avatars/Pictures not showing up in TweetCaster?

We can help you with this problem. Follow @handmarkcares and send a direct message and you will be given a hand.

  17. Why can't I RT tweets from my friends with protected accounts?

TweetCaster respects the privacy of its users. Those who have set their accounts to private expect that their content will not be shared publicly. Although TweetCaster previously allowed followers to retweet this content, our friends at Twitter have asked us to stop. And we agree that it is the right thing to do. :)

So that capability has been turned off. TweetCaster is not the only one making this change–it is our understanding that other Twitter apps are turning off this functionality as well.

  18. Why can't I send or receive direct messages any more?

You need to upgrade to the latest version of TweetCaster. Twitter recently implemented an updated permissions process. The latest version of TweetCaster accommodates these changes. Older versions do not. Go to TweetCaster.com from your mobile browser to get the latest version.
