Those who share computer with others or use a public PC, are always leaving their personal information or sensitive files at a risk of getting exposed, changed or deleted by others. Not only for cyber attacks, but the bad guys or even because of careless usage of other users on that PC you may loose your important documents, photos and music. Also you might don’t want to share everything with them (Let’s say, your family pictures of personal information). Protected Folder is a brilliant tool application that can protects any types of content from others in a second. The tools makes sure that all your data on HD is completely safe and wouldn’t let anyone to access to it without the password you used. Protected Folder is a paid tool (Trial ware) comes from a trusted developer called IObit, the same developer of our previously shared Advanced System Care and IObit Uninstaller. More to read.
IObit Protected Folder is a Paid tool (You can use Trial version for up to 20 trials) available at $19.95 for one PC. We are giving away the license of this tool to Five of our lucky readers. Giveaway details by the end of this article.
Before getting to the discussion, please check out our video showing how the tool works:
IObit Protected Folder is a simple tool to use. In order to use Protected Folder, first download the installer from the link below and then install it. During installation, it will try to push IObit Malware Fighter and Advance System Care to be installed silently. Since they are not necessary to use this tool, simply click on Skip to not install them.
Once installed, run Protected Folder. During the first startup, you will be asked to Create a new password. Put your desired password in that filed and then confirm the password by imputing again. Then add a password hint to remember the password. Once done, click OK. Remember that you are going to need that password each time you start the application.
Now the main window of Protected Folder will be show. User Interface Protected Folder is really modern and sleek looking. Comparing with other similar types of tools, Protected Folder is completely easy to use. It has only 4 buttons and the tool is completely fictional with those.
All that you need to do to hide and protect a folder, just drag and drop it to the application interface. All files inside that folder will automatically be protected and hidden from the Windows Explorer.
You can also add files and folders to be protected by clicking on Add button. A file explorer will open and just select files/folders from there to hide.
If you want to unprotect files/folders and show it in Windows Explorer, just select them by holding Ctrl and click on Unlock button.
By default, Protected Folder will Hide added files from Windows Explorer, Deny Read Access and Deny Write Access on those files/folder. This status can be checked from the bottom part of the application interface just beside Status. Click there to configure the status. You can make any change to the protection level there and then click OK to continue.
From Options > Exclude List, you can exclude or include directories/files or folders from Protected Folder. If you have excluded any folder in this list, you will not be able to protect that file using Protected Folder. By default, all partitions are in this exclude list so you cannot protect a whole partition at once using this tool. You can protect files inside that partition though. Remove any directory from here to allow Protected Folder to protect that.
Features:
- Extremely Easy to Use
- Hide from View
- Block Access
- Write Protection
- Privacy Protection
- No more Data theft, Data loss, or Data leaks
- Safe and Secure
Protected Folder from IObit is indeed a handy tool for maximum protection of your files from getting exposed or deleted by someone else. It is a trialware tool works on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and we also tested it successfully on Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
