Many new features were revealed for appliances, including support for multicore processors and also the NFC. But there are bad news also for the current Windows Phone users. Those who already have smartphones with the Windows Phone 7 OS will not receive updates. Microsoft has mentioned that there are many reasons of not to upgrade old appliances because they do not have sufficient hardware compatible with the new features. But there’s a good news too for them, after Mango update (7.5), Windows Phone 7 users will receive yet another upgrade as Windows Phone 7.8.

There are not many details about what will come in the update, but based on rumors and reality, we think that they are basically interface changes and bug fixes. It is likely that the interface is identical to that in Windows Phone 8 because Microsoft plans to heavily promote the new operating system.
