How To Start/Stop Or Enable/Disable Service On Windows And Decrease Boot Time

Now here I am telling you how to disable or enable/start or stop unnecessary service to increase your system performance. Services are a computer program or process that runs in the background and provides support to other programs in Windows 7. This will show you how to start or disable a Windows 7 service of your choice. There are some third party tools available for this job. But why use those software is while you can do it by your own? Procedure

• Open the Start Menu.
  1. Open Run and type services.msc and press Enter.
  2. Or in the search line, type services.msc and press Enter.

  If prompted, click on Continue in the UAC prompt, or provide the administrator password to approve.

• Right click on the service you want to disable or start and click on Properties (Or you can select Stop from right click menu).

To Disable a Service

• Click on the Stop button and wait a sec for the service to stop.
• Next to Startup type, click on the drop down menu and select Disable.
• Click on the Apply button.
  NOTE: If the service will not stop and gives a error, then you will need to restart the computer to stop it after you set it to Disabled and clicked on OK.
• Now From "Start Type", select Disable and Hit Ok

Note: You might need to restart now.

To Start a Service

• Next to Startup type, click on the drop down menu and select Automatic orManual and click Apply.
• Click on the Start button.
  NOTE: If the Start option is grayed out and will not start, then you will need to restart the computer to start it after you set it to Automatic and clicked OK.
• Click on OK.
