Just a few days ago, we shared an amazingly brilliant application called Soluto with you. That was one of the most exciting software I have used ever. If you have been following Soluto for quite a few times, then you must have already noted that the Soluto team mentioned they are busy at doing some new experiment. Well, I am now here to talk about it. Soluto’s new experiment is a completely new idea to remotely control and manage multiple PC over internet. Soluto web app build’s specially for helping your friends and family. If you are someone like tech guy to your circle and everyone else calls you to solve any tech related problems, then Soluto will be of perfect use to you. It allows to remotely control a PC like install a list of daily use software, do a several tweaks to boost browser and Windows boot, track crashes and search for solution etc. In a short work, it let you remotely do everything that Soluto desktop client does. Currently it’s on private beta, but I have a special access code for ABC Trick’s visitor. Get it now!
Ok, now let’s have a quick overview of Soluto’s new web app project. Before that, you might want to read our review about Soluto desktop app. To get started with Soluto, just signup for a account using an access code (find by the end of this post). You will need to install a small plug-in. Then you will be redirected to Soluto’s dashboard. Here you can add up to 5 PC (as a free user). You can add your own PC to remotely maintain it or can add friend’s/client’s PC if you need to help them with it. To do just, click on Add Someone from the People I Help and then use their email address to send a welcome message.
Now let’s check out what you can do with it. Note that you need to install Soluto’s desktop client on the PC you are going to control. Click on any user from People I help section to get access to their Frustrations (Information about system crashes), Apps (Will allow you to install important application from a list of recommended software), Background Apps (Allows you to enable/disable or delay any on boot program or script to decrease startup time), Internet (Let you control installed Internet Browser – like changing default search engine and maintaining plug-in etc.), Protection (Windows Firewall, status, AntiVirus information, Windows Update info), and Hardware (Stores info about on CPU, RAM, Motherboard, GPU, Hard drives etc).
From the top of this page, you can get target’s Frustration level with his PC, default internet Browser and search engine, number of running background apps and hardware info/strength. The Frustration tab displays crash reports from history.
The Apps tab displays a list of recommanded and really useful daily apps and sorts them in Installed and Not Installed type. You can install any app from this list to your target’s PC. This list includes lots of useful apps like Paint.Net, Audacity, Google Talk, PDF Creator, Java, Picasa, Google Earth, Dropbox, Adobe Reader, VideoLan VLC Player, Teamviewer, iTunes, OpenOffice, Skype, Spotify and more. You can install any of this app without noticing the PC user. You can also get a brief description of each app and required space for each by clicking on them.
Background Apps is the part where you can do major tweaks to visibly improve system performance. Maintaining boot services is the key part of Soluto desktop app and so does Soluto Web App too. You can enable/disable/delay any startup program or service remotely. You can see which thing are safe to remove or which might be important, brief details on every software and recommendation from here. You can disable or re-enable any one of them by click the target service.
The Internet tab let’s you control behavior of installed browser. Currently only Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera are supported by Soluto. You can check or change the default browser, change Homepage and search engine too. You can also control installed Add-Ons from here. Soluto collects information about all installed Add-On, allow you to disable/re-enable one, shows recommendation and brief instruction about what might happen after disabling that etc.
The Protection option let’s you check Windows Firewall status, allow you to turn in On/Off, shows currently installed anti-virus information and install essential Windows Updates. If the connected system is deprived of anti-virus suite, you can remotely install Microsoft Security Essentials or AVG Free on target’s system.
At last, the Hardware give you a quick insights of connected system’s current Hardware information. It shows info about CPU, RAM, Motherboard, Graphics and Hard Drives partition info. You can also get some advanced info like Fan Speed, CPU Temperature, Connected Monitors, Network, Installed Drivers of Monitor, Battery Health, Disk Space Usage and more.
Soluto desktop client will show notice about remote changes to targets desktop.
This log will also be visible from Soluto desktop app.
