Free Video Dub is a program that allows you to trim (split) different video formats without losing quality and easily. Free Video Dub performs quick editing action without re-encoding the video file so it gives lossless video output real fast. It doesn’t requires any third-party codecs to run and supports wide range of video types including MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MPEG 4 AVI, MOV, MP4 (MPEG 4), M4V, MPG, FLV, DivX and XviD formats. It presents easy and clear User Interface so you can get set with your video file quite easily. To get started with Free Video Dub, download the package and install it. During installation, Free Video Dub will tell you to free DVDVideoSoft toolbar to your browser. Although it provides some extra functions to your browser, but if you feel it uncomfortable with it – you can choose not to install it too.
Once install, open the Free Video Dub. As mentioned above, the UI is simple and easy. You will find the place to select input file and output file destination on the top of the window referred by Input File: and Output Files:. The necessary tools to trim and edit video as well as playback buttons are displayed just above the bottom. You will be able to watch playback of the video on the middle part. There’s two more button at the end called by Options and Save Video.
To get started, add a file from Input File (supports AVI, DIV, DIVX, MPEG, MPG, MPE, MP4, M4V or FLV). In the Output File, you can choose which file and where the result videos will be saved. By default edited video will be save on the source file location.
Now play the video and use the navigation control and mark the start – end position. Click on Trim Left (Scissor icon with bracket on left) at the starting point and click on Trim Right (Scissor icon with bracket on right) at the ending point. Then you may like to play the selected part to make sure you are ok. After finishing, click on Save Video button.
You can also automatically shutdown your system after Free Video Dub finishes it’s job. To do so, click on Settings and enable Turn Off Computer if the process finished successfully.
Free Video Dub is a nice freeware tool. Although it has some flaw back. Probably the biggest flaw of the program is limited video format support. It doesn’t yet support some popular video formats like WMV and MOV. But yet Free Video Dub is a perfect tool for trimming videos. Free Video Dub works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
