Black Hole is a region in space where the gravitational force is so strong that nothing can leave the region. 42 year ago, Stephen Hawking predicted that black holes shrink because they emit electromagnetic radiation. Since then, this prediction was nothing but a theory as the radiation is too weak to observe using the technologies available today. But as science evolves, the mysteries that involve black holes begin to be revealed. What Stephen Hawking hypostasized back in 1974, is confirmed after all these years. A survey published recently in Nature Physics confirmed the theory and showed that, in some way, it is possible to escape the from the black hole.

NASA Solves The Mystery Behind Moon’s Gravitational Field Using Grail’s Data [News]
The American space agency, NASA, recently released the report of the Grail mission, which lasted nine months in lunar research. Scientists have unraveled the mysteries of the gravitational force of the Earth's natural satellite, the moon, which might have formed from the impact of asteroids and comets on its surface.

NASA believes that understanding the phenomenon makes it possible to increase the accuracy of satellites navigation that end up being affected by gravitational variations. The researchers also point out that knowing the structure of the Moon is essential to understand the changes since its formation of about 4.5 billion years.
Theory Of Stellar Evolution Could Be Incorrect–Dazzling Suggestion Rediscovered From Old Newspaper
You would probably remember what you studied in school about the process of evolution of stars, but the information you know may be incorrect or at least incomplete,as it is believed by a team of Australian research. Simon Campbell, specialist of stellar theory from Monash University, found evidence in old papers which suggests that some stars do not follow the pattern as they should follow according to science. Until now, scientists believed that mass stars similar to the Sun pass through a phase at the end of their lives that would occur in a huge burning of nuclear fuel, which would cause much of the mass of the stars were lost in the form of dust and gases.

Scientists found binary star system very close to Earth [Astronomy]
According to NASA, astronomers from Pennsylvania State University, USA, with the help of data collected by the space telescope WISE, were able to identify a binary star system which is only 6.5 light years from our solar system. According to the space agency, these are the closest stars to us discoveries in almost a century, and the third system closer to the Sun than we have ever heard.

Mars may have provided favorable conditions for life in the past [News]
According to a news report by the NASA, the Mars Curiosity found evidence that, in the distant past, the planet may have provided conditions for the existence of life, more specifically to the survival of microorganisms. The conclusion came after analysis of a sample obtained by drilling a rock in an area known as Yellowknife Bay.

NASA Announces The Discovery Of The Smallest Planet Ever Observed [News]
According to NASA, the Kepler space telescope has discovered the smallest exoplanet ever observed in the constellation Lyra - which lies about 210 light-years from Earth. Dubbed as Kepler-37b, the little planet is slightly larger than the Moon, and you can check out a comparison of its size relative to other known planets in the illustration below.

Curiosity begins digging for water in Martian soil [News]
After six months in the Martian soil, the Curiosity robot finally started drilling and analysis of rocks on Mars. On Saturday morning (09/02/2013), NASA released an image into a Twitter account dedicated exclusively to the mission. The picture showed a small hole on the Martian surface, measuring about 1.60 cm in diameter and 6.35 inches deep. The site chosen for the mission was the Gale Crater, since images suggest that once housed its surface water at some point.

ESA Project to built perfect 3D printed Lunar base made with local soil [News]
The dream of colonizing the moon is old, but it never seems ready to leave the paper. Still, that does not stop scientists and engineers as well as dreamers to build lunar bases for projects that would be realistic and practical. The Foster + Partners firm has partnered with the European Space Agency to develop a model lunar base which would be cheap, safe and quick to be built. The Trumps are using 3D printers to create the coating of houses and use the satellite's own natural soil as a building material.
Astronomers Witness The Greatest Explosion Of A Black Hole Ever Recorded [News]
According to National Geographic, a group of astronomers detected the largest explosion of a black hole ever recorded. According to the publication, the event recording has reached a magnitude of at least five times larger than any other studied before this occurrence. The black hole in this explosion is located about 11.5 billion light-years from Earth, has a Supermassive mass equivalent to 1-3 billion suns together, lying in the center of a quasar (a type of galaxy which is extremely bright and energetic). Astronomers are studying the explosion through the powerful telescopes of the European Southern Observatory (ESO) in Chile, measuring the speed and the properties of the outage materials.
NASA Finds Water On Mercury From Analysis Of Data Sent Via Spacecraft MESSENGER [News]
Based on data obtained by the MESSENGER spacecraft, NASA confirmed that Mercury, the closest planet to the Sun, has water on its surface. And what to come surprise next is, this is not a small amount. According to the NASA, the planet has an abundant amount of ice and other frozen volatiles in polar craters. Despite the proximity to the sun and high temperatures recorded on the surface, the polar regions of Mercury didn't ever get sunlight yet because of the tilt of its axis of rotation, which has an angle of only 1 degree.
Astronomers Discover Planet Almost 13 Times Massive Than Jupiter [News]
Although it may seem confusing, the picture below is one of those important moments for science, especially astronomy. With the help of Subaru Telescope located in Hawaii, scientists discovered a new exoplanet which is classified as super-Jupiter - the Kappa Andromedae b (Kappa And b, for short), as it was named, has a mass of 12.8 times more then Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system. The planet is orbiting a star that is 170 light years from Earth. For scientists, this discovery is an interesting characteristics of the new star. As a new star, the Kappa And b has mass that puts it in the threshold between a massive planet and a brown dwarf. A division of "super-Jupiter", according to press release published by NASA, is used to keep both possibilities.
Orphan Planet Is Discovered Wandering Alone In Space Without Any Solar System Or Any Star To Orbit
According to a news published on Discovery News website, an international group of researchers discovered the existence of a planet drifting in space that does not orbit around any star nor belong to any solar system. Baptized by astronomers as CFBDSIR2149, the orphan planet is approximately 130 light years from Earth, in a region of space known as AB Doradus, a small moving group for star cluster. This region is formed by a group of new stars, and astronomers have never detected the presence of any planet wandering around like this. Our planet, Earth, is orbiting around Sun and a part of The Solar System (Sol, I believe).
Curiosity May Have Found Information About Mars That Will Go Down In History [News]
When the Curiosity of NASA landed on the Mars, many fans and believers of aliens were eager to know what would be discovered. After a while, most of these people were quite disappointed, after all, nothing astonishing was found. Although it’s work didn’t created much of news, the sensors of Curiosity recently found something that is making NASA scientists very excited. According to John Grotzinger, principal investigator for the Curiosity rover mission, these new information have great chances of entering the history books. However, the NASA didn’t confirm or disclose any facts regarding this report as of this date, because they did not want to risk disclose something that is not true, as that would take away the credit of future results coming from Curiosity.
