The agency that handles the registration of patents and trademarks in the U.S. today issued a further request from the offices of Apple. The new record of Apple's patent provides a system for inductive charging of the battery through the iPad Smart Covers. For this, however, these cases would still have an integrated battery to transfer power to the tablet when needed. Thus, the Smart Cover does not just protect the device, it would also serve as a kind of auxiliary battery for the tablet, increasing the time taken away from charger.

The new technology, called as "Illuminated Touchpad" was sent for analysis by the company in April this year, but only became public this week. According to the Apple, the technology can increase the intensity of responses that a person has to deal with any device using his fingers. The resource description also indicates that it can be used simply to illuminate the screen of a device that is not currently in use. "One aspect relates to devices capable of illuminating the touch sensitive surface of the touch pad", describes the company. "Not just in backlighting so that the user knows where the touch pad is located in low light conditions, but also to give other feedback related to how the touch pad is being used" added more.
