Animating Flip Clock Widget For Android (3)

Are you a non-HTC Android user fancying the nearly ubiquitous HTC Sense digital clock widget that has adorned every single Android device (and every Windows Mobile device since the HTC Diamond) that HTC has released? Here’s a widget that brings the smoothness and sleekness from HTC’s offering to whatever device you may be rocking.

See the minutes flip by in a smooth animation, right on your home screen.

A retro "flip" style clock for on your home screen. Every minute it animates the flip to the next minute.

This is a beta version, so bugs can be expected. If this doesn't work for you, or you experience bugs, then please contact me on my email rather than voting negatively.

This is a home screen widget, so it won't appear in your launcher. To use it you should long-press an empty space on the home screen and choose "Animating Flip Clock Widget beta" from the widget menu.

After adding the clock to your home screen for the first time, and after every update, it will be setting up the clock which might take some time. Please be patient, check your notification area to see the progress.

You can change the time format between am/pm and 24-hour format in the system settings: Settings / Date & Time / Use 24-hour format (if this setting does not reflect the clock, change this setting and then change it back again, I would appreciate it if you would let me know if this happens to crack down on this weird behavior).

Some Words From The Developer

I have just released the first beta of my widget. It’s a flip clock with smooth animation between each minute transition. I have not found another, non HTC, flip clock widget that animates as smooth as this one, so is this a first?

This is a beta version, so bugs can be expected. I have tested it on a couple of emulators and on my own phone, Nexus One.

It does not appear to be battery hungry, or processor intensive. It does eat up a bit of memory and have found some difficulty adding more than one widget to the home screen.

Any feedback on how it runs is greatly appreciated. Please specify what phone/Android/ROM/launcher you are using and the log cat when experiencing bugs.

The layout and style are not definite and may change over time. Any suggestions are welcome.
