Google Maps for mobile lets you carry the power of Google Maps in your pocket, so you don't get lost on your travels. It's not always practical to carry a map around with you to help you get to where your going. If you find yourself getting lost on a regular basis, or if you're a keen traveler then Google Maps for mobile is the one for you. Besides offering digital urban road maps and satellite views, Google Maps for mobile furnishes you with a bevy of other cool features. Built on the popular online app, Google Maps for mobile includes an address search with location determination and a built-in route planner. The zoom function is arguably easier to handle than on a PC, through clever use of the joystick or soft keys. If you have GPS functionality on your phone, then Google Maps for mobile is even better because it can show you your current position on the screen. The search in Google Maps for mobile is as straightforward as ever and also allows you to look for points of interest such as cinemas, shops or restaurants, although the frequency of these will vary depending on where in the World you're looking at. You can even program your own favorites, so that you never need to forget where that nice bar you visited was. The latest version of the app now comes with Street View, so you can get a really close view of major cities.

Google Maps for java has 2 different version. v2.3.2 and v3.0.2. The latest version is 3.0.2 but I like the previous one more. It gives me more flexibility. 3.0.2 is not Officially supported by most of the devices. Here I will show v2.3.2 for instance.

My Location (Beta)

I want to say about it first as I like this feature most. In my Sony Ericsson, I simply press “0” to navigate in map and see where am I! isn’t that wonderful? It almost deals with the lacking GPS function.

Two Style Map View

You can taste map in two style. One is “Map View” by default and another “Satellite View”. I like "Satellite View” most. Which one you like?

Powerful Search

Trying to search for any place, school, college, library, . Simply just type a few keywords or original name, search results will show all places matching and will sort by distance from you current place. Like you are searching for a place with “City” keyword. The search option will show the nearest location 1st.

You can mark a list of places as favorite and switch them easily. To mark a place as favorite, simply just press “*” and that place will be mark as favourite and show an star on map. You can manage favourite from Menu>Favorites

Google Maps supports a long range of zooming. You can see whole earth to you own home!

It supports “Traffic Location” by which you can see traffic status on roads. Though this option is only available is some selected territory. Another feature is “Get Direction”. You can get travel direction from a place to other. This also not available in everywhere

In version 3.0.2, you can see your friends location and latitude
