ShapeShifter For Windows : A Cool And Light Replacement For Windows Clipboard

The clipboard acts as a temporary storage location for data that is copied to it by a computer user. The standard Windows Clipboard can only store one entry, which gets overwritten every time new data is copied. That makes some operations, where multiple sets of data need to be copied more complex than necessary. So have you ever faced this problem that you have to copy two, three (or more that) files/data from different place and Windows clipboard only stored one? So you have to copy it one by one. It has already killed a lot of my times. So I was agar for a replacement of this. But none of them looks great on my eye. It’s either to heavy to run often or it’s very dull in performance. And if everything is set, then it looks awfully boring to use. So I haven’t choose any of them.

But yesterday I came to know about ShapeShifter. ShapeShifter is a lightweight Windows Clipboard replacement that comes with a few extras that not all alternative clipboard managers offer. So I have decided to make a review and cover up this great app.

1st of all, I just want to say two things I like most about this app. One is, it’s really lightweight, even you can neglect it’s system resource use. And the other is it’s User Interface and Ease Of Use. The User Interface is so nice and cute! And it’s designed greatly so that the user don’t have do any extra steps. So this is a must app you should try.

Installation

Installing this software is simple and easy. 1st download the “ShapeShifter Setup File From Here” and then run it. A cool installation wizard will open. Simply press “Next”

Then on the next window, you will be asked to select installation folder. By default, it’s “C:\Program Files\Flamefusion\Shapeshifter”. You can change it as your will. You can also select if you or if you not want to add a shortcut at desktop and launch it after installation.

After clicking next, installation will begun. But as it hardly take “One Second!” to install, you might not even note it. Then the Installation Complete will appear.

Usage

As I have mentioned above, you don’t have to follow any extra step to use this. Simply just copy anything you want. Using Shapeshifter is easy. Copy more than one item to the clipboard using CTRL + C or copy by mouse right click, and then hold down “CTRL + V” where you want to paste them. to see the Shapeshifter interface. From there (while still holding down CTRL + V), select an item to paste with the arrow keys or the mouse-wheel, and release CTRL + V again.

With Shapeshifter, you don't change your current habits. This program changes the way Windows works, by changing the CTRL + V keyboard combination, as well as the CTRL + C and CTRL + X keyboard combinations. That way you don't change your current habits when choosing the items to copy. The only thing that changes is that it pastes the selected data as you release CTRL.

To delete anything from clipboard, simply press and hold CTRL+V and then use arrow key to highlight the data you want to remove. Then press Delete button from your keyboard,

Configuration

You will be notified by a pop up notification from System Tray when you add something to clipboard. To change this system and to configure ShapeShifter, simply right click on ShapeShifter icon from system tray and then press Option

On the new window, you can configure easily your settings.

The application works on Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported).
