There are a lot’s of thing to do for making your system like new and keep it’s performance as good as a perfect one. You may have to edit registry for quite a lot of times, dig into the deepest part of your system to make several changes and tweak lot other things in order to do so. But there a free application available called Tweak Me! that can let you easily choose tweaks from a really useful list and apply them in one single click. Besides, Tweak Me! allows you to manage startup programs to boost your Windows’ performance, clean junk files and easily edit your context menu to make it handy. Note: With this tool you can perform some adjustments in the system (without having to manually enter commands in the log files) to make it faster. However, before you start the changes, it's always good to remember that such changes can lead to dangerous situation for your system. Thus, it is always recommended to create a restore point before applying them.
To get started with Tweak Me!, download and install it. During installation, it may try to install Nitro PDF too. You can decline it if you want.
After running the application, you will see it’s home window with 4 tab like menu on top. They are calling Tweaks (Contains useful types of tweaks you can apply to boost your system), Cleaner (Analyzes and cleans junk files), Startup (Manages startup programs for faster boot) and Context Menu (Allows you to easily edit context menu).
All tweaks of the application operates can be access from a single window, Tweaks. However, it has divided the functions into several categories for ease of use. The first, Action-Center, responsible for disabling the system messages (which appear near the clock). Note that there are a number of messages that can be disabled like Firewall, Antivirus, Update Notification or even all. To enable any of this option, simply check the box next to that one. The second group, Aero, contains ways to disable the Windows Aero features. Though striking part of the system can be hard on computers with limited resources. But yet it will be able to save your system resource. AntiSpy brings the ability to disable the reports of anti-spyware tool. Internet Explorer aims to improve the performance of Microsoft's browser. This category combines several features like Disable password caching and SSL, Notifications, Integration with the Windows authentication and so on. Performance contains tweaks that can make the system faster a bit. Security, as its name suggests, presents more way to ensure computer security by enabling or disabling of certain functions. User Account Control allows you to disable the account control Windows or just prevent the black screen appears each time it takes action. Windows allows to disable several system items. Then Windows Media Player brings modifications to the default multimedia player of Windows. Finally, Windows Update allows you to disable the update function, enables the automatic installation of updates or let the burden of the administrator. Select the options you want to apply and the do not forget to click Save to store them.
Tweak Me! makes it even easier for you to decide which tweak you can apply safely and which one can put your system at risk by defining the tweaks into several colors like Green, Orange and Red.
From the Cleaner windows, you can analyze junk items used by different software that are no longer important to the system, but still accumulated and delete them. You can also delete browser history and others too. To begin, you need to do an analysis. Check the items you want to check and click Analyze. Then, the application starts the operation and after that, click on Clean.
The Startup tab presents all applications and services that starts with Windows. Excessive programs can make the boot slower and purpose of this function is to help you eliminate that need you don’t need to be started at boot of system. To remove any item from the boot, this simply uncheck the box next to it.
Finally, the Context Menu tab displays items in context menu. You can also remove any item from context menu easily here.
Click on the Tweak Me! writing from the top of the window to access to some other tools and configuration window. Options menu lets you decide whether you want to create a System Restore point on the app’s startup, show colors for recommendation and update checks.
You can try SSD Optimization or Fixes to optimize your system. The SSD Optimization tab allows you to enable or disable Trim Support, Defragmentation, Boot-Defragmentation and Prefetch/Superfetch.
The Fixes tab allow you to tweak and optimize System Files, Boot Defragmentation, Prefetch, Superfetch, Hibernation and Burning Function as well as Unlock Task Manger and Enable AHCI.
Tweak Me! is a free system utility too and works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
