IObit Protected Folder is a simple tool to use. In order to use Protected Folder, first download the installer from the link below and then install it. During installation, it will try to push IObit Malware Fighter and Advance System Care to be installed silently. Since they are not necessary to use this tool, simply click on Skip to not install them.

Once installed, run Protected Folder. During the first startup, you will be asked to Create a new password. Put your desired password in that filed and then confirm the password by imputing again. Then add a password hint to remember the password. Once done, click OK. Remember that you are going to need that password each time you start the application.

Now the main window of Protected Folder will be show. User Interface Protected Folder is really modern and sleek looking. Comparing with other similar types of tools, Protected Folder is completely easy to use. It has only 4 buttons and the tool is completely fictional with those.

All that you need to do to hide and protect a folder, just drag and drop it to the application interface. All files inside that folder will automatically be protected and hidden from the Windows Explorer.

You can also add files and folders to be protected by clicking on Add button. A file explorer will open and just select files/folders from there to hide.

If you want to unprotect files/folders and show it in Windows Explorer, just select them by holding Ctrl and click on Unlock button.

By default, Protected Folder will Hide added files from Windows Explorer, Deny Read Access and Deny Write Access on those files/folder. This status can be checked from the bottom part of the application interface just beside Status. Click there to configure the status. You can make any change to the protection level there and then click OK to continue.

From Options > Exclude List, you can exclude or include directories/files or folders from Protected Folder. If you have excluded any folder in this list, you will not be able to protect that file using Protected Folder. By default, all partitions are in this exclude list so you cannot protect a whole partition at once using this tool. You can protect files inside that partition though. Remove any directory from here to allow Protected Folder to protect that.
