Renowned as an avid defender of its intellectual property, Apple, sooner or later, getting a bit problem in that department. This time, the sound system of their equipment is suspected of using technology described in the patents of THX, a company specializing in sound systems created by George Lucas. Because of this, the company is suing Apple for using its technology illegally on iPhones, iPads and iMacs.
The problem was noticed by THX after the release of the new iMacs that, according to the Bloomberg actually have a sound system similar to that THX is patented with their name. The patent was on a speaker unit which can boost sound output and it was registered back in 2008. The report says that inappropriate usage of THX’s unit, Apple is causing them “monetary damage and irreparable harm”
So far, there is no information about the progress of the process, but it is expected that the two companies can enter into an agreement before they even take the issue to court.
