As far I can remember, when the Windows 7 was released, it took 6 of my hours to create a bootable USB Drive! Though it wasn’t so hard with DVD Disc, but that was confusing too. Especially for newbies, because then we have to use a third-party tool to burn ISO file in a blank DVD. This task wasn’t really hard but creating a bootable USB Drive was boring and a long follow process. We have to make several tweaks in order to make it useful. Those days are gone a long time a ago. Many tools are now available to do it without manual tweaking. But can a third-party tool beat the original vendor? Most of the time is no. Which better tool to use than the one from Microsoft themselves. Yes, you can use the popular Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool from Microsoft to create a bootable DVD or USB device of Windows 8. So let’s check how simple it is.

1st download the Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool from the link given at the end of this article. Then install it.

Creating A Bootable USB Drive

Run the Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool after installation.

Now from the home screen, select “Browse” and navigate to the downloaded Windows 8 Developer Preview iso file. Then click "Next”

Now from the next window, select “USB”

After that, you will be asked to select the USB drive where you want to have a bootable Windows 8 drive. Select your desired one and then click on “Begin Copying”. Note that your USB drive have to be larger then 4 GB.

It will now format your drive and then will start copying the files. You will get your USB drive ready for boot after some time.

Creating A Bootable DVD Disc

Just follow the steps mentioned above. Just in the 2nd step, select “DVD” instead of “USB Drive”

You will need a blank DVD and for this process.

If you are worried about Windows 8 system requirement, then you will be glad to hear that according to Microsoft, the system requirement for Windows 8 will be equal or less than that of Windows 7.

    I have successfully done it a couple of times. If you want to make a simple bootable Windows XP, and if this method goes unsuccessful, try with UltraISO.
